Flanders Up-Island Real Estate began in 1927 by Hope Mayhew Flanders. Hope was the first realtor in the up-island area. She began the business out of her home by accomodating her Radcliffe college friends. Her son David started working with his mother upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1952. Hope and David were partners in the business until Hope’s passing in 1978. Today the family business remains family owned and operated.

Shortly after graduating from MV Regional Highschool she earned her Real Estate License and began working for Flanders Up-Island Real Estate. After graduating from UMass with a degree in geological sciences, she began working for Brigham and Women’s Hospital where she was an International Patient Coordinator for several years.
